Dr.
Susamma Barua is the Associate Dean
of the College of Engineering and
Computer Science and the Coordinator of the undergraduate program in Computer Engineering at California State University, Fullerton. She received her
Ph. D degree in Computer Engineering from the University
of Cincinnati.

Dr. Barua joined California State University,
Fullerton, in 1988. She assumed the position of the Coordinator for the
Computer Engineering program in 2004, a program that was launched under her
leadership. She has received grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF)
and Lockheed Martin Corporation for support of her research projects. She has
taught a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses on topics such as
computer system architecture, computer networking, microprocessor
hardware/software concepts, signal processing and microcomputer system design.
Dr. Barua is the author of numerous technical articles and has supervised over
100 graduate research projects. She is the recipient of Outstanding Service and
Outstanding Teacher/Scholar awards several times.
Dr. Barua has served on many college and
university committees, including the Academic Senate, PRBC (Planning, Resources,
and Budget Committee), University Curriculum Committee, Board of the Faculty
Development Center, Outstanding Professor Committee and the University
Taskforce for facilitating graduation rate and closing the “achievement gap.” She
is a member of the IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Technical Committee on Parallel
Processing and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). She is currently
an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Education.
